Cardboard-Tube Samurai

Welcome children... The story your about to read is of the kind that spawns legends. This is a tale of a man who risks his own life to save others, he is a master of his weapon and many warriors seek him out to test his skill. He is............. The Cardboard-Tube Samurai!
The tale starts around 20 years into his life..... his family is dead...... so there is nothing holding him to any place, except the gratitude of the people he has helped. He travels the land, far and wide, helping people in exchange for a meal and a warm place to sleep. The rain beats down on his head, his feet sink into the mud, yet his movements are swift and graceful. A shout from ahead draws his attention. He quickens his pace, though never dropping his guard. He has slain many a brave samurai who thought they could best him in a dual, and grieving families often send assassins to avenge their loss.
Two men are silhouetted by lightening. They are kicking an old farmer and beating him with their weapons.
"ahem", the cardboard-tube samurai clears his throat to announce his presence. The two ruffians look up and see the lone samurai. Grinning viciously, they draw their weapons and charge.
With a quick flick of his foot, the samurai flings a rock into the foot of the closest man, he trips over...... The samurai steps to the side and draws his weapon. Wind rushes around the cardboard-tube as it swings down on the back of the attacker. His face is smeared into mud and he lays there motionless. The second assailant had paused when he saw the samurai kick the rock, after seeing his companion get knocked senseless, he turned on his heel and runs away. With a single motion of his arm, the samurai pulls out a small dagger and flings it at the fleeing thug. It slams into his shoulder but he keeps running.
Later that night, the mud splattered man stumbles into his master’s hideout. He runs towards his master to tell him of the samurai, but his body starts to convulse. He is dead before he hits the ground. The master pulls the dagger out of the body and examines the poison-tipped blade. He knows.... The Cardboard-Tube Samurai is back for revenge.
"Kill him!......... and bring me the tube"
Elite warriors leave the hideout in groups and follow the ruffians trail back to the samurai.
They quickly surround him, weapons drawn and faces grim. They know that many will die to defeat him.
The samurai bows his head and calls upon the power within him. The first ninja is dead before he has time to think. The samurai plants his foot into the side of the head of the second. The third one soon chokes on his own blood as the cardboard-tube slides easily into his chest. The other five ninjas stand there in stunned silence as they witness the full power of the Cardboard-Tube Samurai. With a twirl, the cardboard-tube spins through the air and crashes into the face of another ninja. The samurai lets out a war cry and flies after his cardboard-tube. He slams his fist into the neck of a ninja, grabs his cardboard-tube just after it hit the first ninja. He spins himself in mid air and slices the head off another. The remaining two ninjas look at each other for a second before one is taken out with the severed head of his comrade and the other by a flying kick from the samurai.
The blood soaked warrior picks up the severed head and follows the path to the hideout. He kicks open the door and walks inside, the great hall echoing only the sound of rats, for he makes no noise. The samurai stops four metres in front of the ninja master. They stand there looking at each other, staring at each other's faces, looking for a sign of movement. A bead of sweat forms on the master’s forehead.
With no warning, the samurai throws the head at him........... a hiss of metal as a sword is drawn....... the patter of feet..... a table is knocked over...... sparks fly as a sword scraps against the wall...... the crash of steel on steel echoes........a loud grunt bounces around the room.........blood splatters onto a wall....... a body crashes to the ground. The samurai wipes the blood from his cardboard-tube, slides it back into its sheath and walks away from the mangled corpse.
That has been the tale of the Cardboard-Tube Samurai. No one knows what has become of him after that fight, some say he killed himself..... not me, I reckon that once he had his revenge he disappeared into the heavens where he guides other young warriors in the way of the cardboard-tube.
