Part 4

Ladies and gentlemen, i present to you the fourth installement of The Epic.

..... Kyo takes Miaka's hand and together they begin their long arduous walk through the wasteland. It was a beautiful site. The sun was above them; shining on the snow and making it sparkle. It was like diamonds sprinkled everywhere. The heat from it felt nice on their skin. They didn’t know where they were going; they just knew that they had to get away from there, before they decided to come back. They both ached and were sore all over. "How are you feeling Mia?" "Im doing ok, i just wish that this never happened." "I know." And Kyo stops walking, which made Miaka stop too. He took a couple of steps to her and embraced her. "Everything will be alright, I love you Mia, and no matter what happens, we will always be together." She begins to cry a little, and says, "I love you too Kyo." All this hardship that they had endured; the crash, losing the baby, their awful experience with their oppressors that lasted for who knew how long, and now this trek through the deep snow and trees. It was too much. She stepped back and wiped her eyes.” We should keep going." The comfort of their embrace, gave them more strength to continue. It was difficult to walk. Their feet were so cold, that they were beginning to lose any feeling in them. It felt like they were going in circles, everything seemed to look the same. Just when they were about to collapse on the ground from walking what seemed hours, they heard voices. In the woods its kind of difficult to tell which direction sounds are coming from, but these voices were close by. They made their way towards the voices, straight ahead of them, and made sure to hide behind a big tree that had fallen down. They were a few yards from them, and could see perfectly over the tree without being noticed (or at least they hoped so). There were two guys who were tall and stocky. They both wore black ski pants. One wore a red and black coat, while the other one on the left, wore a coat that was mostly green with a bit of black on it. Miaka and Kyo watched them intently. The two men were squatted on the ground talking about making a fire. "I don’t know Sam, i would think that a fire would be better if we dug a pit in the snow, instead of lying the sticks on top of it." Said the first guy in red, while he starts to stand. "C'mon Chris, you cant make a fire like that. What if the fire melts the snow and it puts out the fire?" " Yeah....well lets just do it your way ok?." "Good." said the guy in green, smiling. " Go and get the wood and set it up. I'll be over here getting the food and stuff ready." said the one in red named Chris. It seemed that the two men didn’t really know what to do. Miaka and Kyo sat debating on what to do. "Im going to follow the guy who went to get wood." said Kyo, “You sit here, and I think things will be safe if I just go." “But, what about your arm?" "It'll be alright, just don’t move from here, ok?" "Ok." Kyo leans in and gave Miaka a quick kiss on her cold lips, and starts to follow the guy. He hated to leave her there by herself, but he had to find out about these guys and if they could help them. The guy didn’t go too far to get wood; it would probably be a little tough for them to get a fire started with wet wood.... Not to mention night was coming soon and something had to be done soon. These two were definitely not the hillbillies they had encountered; Kyo remembered everything about those hillbillies. He despised them so much for what they did. He'll remember them always. His vengeance burned inside him. He drew his attention back to the guy in green. He was stooping over to get a piece of wood on the ground, but then quickly dropped it and decided to cut some branches off a tree, it would be drier anyways. Kyo was a few yards away from him, behind another tree. His heart was beating so fast it felt like it would jump right out of his chest. He had to do something to make himself known and not have things become hostile with the guy. Kyo was prepared to fight if things did become unfriendly. He wasn’t afraid, so he stepped away from the tree and coughed to get his attention. The guy turned around with a surprised face that quickly turned into a stern, straight face. This was a guy to not mess with. "Who the hell are you?".......
